step 01: Think of some time in the future (time clause).
example:
Tomorrow
The day after tomorrow
This evening / week / weekend / month / year
Next week / weekend / month / year
In 3 days / 2 weeks / 1 month
step 02: Make a list of questions words from ‘wh’ and ‘how’
step 03: Using the question words, create some questions using future tense ‘will’ + pronoun ‘you’.
example:
what will you do tomorrow?
step 04: Practice asking and answering the questions using the following five answers:
| 100% | will |
| 80% | will probably / probably will |
| 50% | might |
| 20% | probably will not / probably won’t |
| 0% | will not / won’t |
example:
A: what will you do tomorrow?
B: Tomorrow, I might* go the park!
* use five playing cards or a dice to randomly select the future tense word to use for each question.
step 05: repeat the previous step but now use the inversion dialogue.
example:
A: where will you live next year?
B: where will I live next year?
A: yes, where will you live next year?
B: next year, I might live in a different city!
step 06: Add a polite request at the start of your questions.
remember:
| Questions | will you …? |
| Statements | you will …! |
example:
can you tell me… what time you will wake-up tomorrow?
step 07: Now try two new questions before your ‘wh’ and ‘how’ questions. One is for the ‘near future’; one is for the ‘distant future’.
near future: do you know …
distant future: do you have idea …
example:
do you know what you will do next weekend?
do you have any idea where you will live next year?
